The thing with Buffy is that you’ll know whether you like it or not for sure after the second episode.
Man people have so many opinions about TV.
(Someone else earlier today told me something totally different.)

Have you watched Buffy? If not, I would say bail on BSG and binge on Buffy instead.
Devoted too much time at this point!

I don’t know, I reckon if you’re watching for the social commentary it’s probably not gonna work for you. I thought it was pretty basic shit. Learn to appreciate the space battles and you’ll love season 2.
My brother was going ON about the social commentary when I was home for Christmas. I don’t know if I can really bring myself to...

have you ever seen the OG star trek? the first season of that is where the REAL gold is!
I’m really not like, a sci fi person, at all, but who knows maybe BG will change me. We’ll see.
onemanbandstand said: Did you watch the mini-series that comes before Season 1, Episode 1? I can imagine being lost without that.
No, I watched the miniseries. I’m not “lost,” just think that it’s not quite as amazing as people have said it is, YET. Going to watch more.

As the fleet stabilizes, so does the plot, and there’s more time to delve into the backstory and flesh out details about humanity according to the series. Political drama also becomes as important as (if not more than) military.
Yeah, I mean, I figured. It is a bit slow on (substantial) plot right now.

Halfway through season one of Battlestar...
(I also watched the miniseries)
Can’t help feeling kind of frustrated about the lack of backstory at this point. I also feel like there are only three or so plot points in each episode, and the rest of it is either action scenes or people brooding about things. I am enjoying it, but I think my drive to continue watching it stems largely from just wanting to know what the hell is going on....

I’m not denying that both high and low culture need women’s voices, but maybe...
– I have been despairing about the VIDA stats on women’s representation in magazines like The Atlantic and Harper’s (among other things), but Emily Gould is entirely fucking right. I open The New Yorker these days and think, “There’s nothing here for me.” So instead of reading it out of duty or to...

– Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart on his new song, “I Luv Abortion.” What is amazing about Stewart is that he’s always sort of trolling, but at the same time, he’s entirely sincere and his music comes from an emotionally honest place. That’s why Xiu Xiu have never felt cheap to me, despite their often...

Roommates
Sometimes it seems like it might be nice to not care about your roommates, but then there are days like today when I wake up sad and hung over and my roommate has bought like ten times the amount of Mexican food she can eat because she was stoned, so I go lie on our makeshift couch and each chips and listen to her and my other roommate complain about boys. Then I go back in my room and my roommate...
