Is it this way because in a place that has so long been submersed in bigotry but is trying(!) so hard not to be anymore, accepting dykes is easier than accepting faggots? People hate faggots out of the biggest (in scale) form of bigotry of all: misogyny. It is harder to accept a man behaving in a stereotypically womanish way (sexually or otherwise) than a woman behaving in a stereotypically mannish way.

I’ve been listening to the new Perfume Genius record all last week in Mexico, it is a beautiful and amazing record and a stunning 2nd album and achievement. But in trying to advertise the record and first video, this short clip has been banned by YouTube. For YouTube to deem this advertisement as “non family safe” is dumbheaded discrimination; I find their actions in doing so disgraceful and cowardly. YouTube, shame on you. You were born of the 21st Century, now act like it. “It doesn’t have ANY effect on your life. What do you care? People try to talk about it like it’s a social issue. Like when you see someone stand up on a talk show and say “How am I supposed to explain to my child that two men are getting married?” …. I dunno,it’s your shitty kid, you fuckin’ tell ‘em. Why is that anyone else’s problem? Two guys are in LOVE but they can’t get married because YOU don’t want to talk to your ugly child for fuckin’ five minutes?” -Louis C.K.
Always, always, always warrants a reblog.

A small church in Toledo, Ohio has spent $1,500 for a one month commitment to a digital billboard that reads “Being Gay is a Gift from God.”
“The Rev. Bill Barnard, Central’s part-time pastor, said the billboard message will be linked to a four-week sermon series, and the overall campaign goal is “to make a leap beyond tolerance.”
“Members of the congregation have experienced places and times where being lesbian or gay was tolerated — kind of ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell, I know God forgives you,’” Barnard said. “We’re saying, ‘This is the way God created you. There’s nothing to forgive.’”They will continue the campaign as long as funds are available.

Update: The Church’s website has an option to donate to keep the campaign running (look about halfway down the page). Thanks, Mumblingsage!
Strongly approve.

I watched Scott Pilgrim vs The World the other day when my friend of the male persuasion that I am particularly interested in came to visit and accidentally-on-purpose just happened to have it in his car. He’s a nerd. I’m a nerd. He wanted me to see it. I totally understood. It was a cool movie;…
OH SHIT RIGHT ON
Have to agree, sadly. I feel like it was better done in the books. And to be fair, I think a lot of the reason that Roxie was mad at Ramona was her “just a phase” attitude. Ramona isn’t supposed to be a perfect character by any means (which is made a lot clearer in the books) and dismissing/trying to forget her past was one of her major problems. But yeah, that scene was pretty fucked.
(Although I’d like to point out that the fact that Roxie was played by the same girl who played Ann on Arrested Development IS AWESOME.)
