Video reblogged from Lovely and Stubborn and Brave

lovelystubbornbrave:

Rachel Maddow on the Keith Olbermann debacle.

Again, not particularly a fan of Olbermann, but she makes a great point. Fox and MSNBC AREN’T equal. Although I would disagree with her that MSNBC isn’t a political operation on at least some level - I agree with most of what I see there but it’s not exactly like they keep their politics and news separate either - I really can’t see any logic in comparing the nuttiness and fervor of the two networks. Just because there are two sides to the argument doesn’t mean that the sides are equally ridiculous in their actions.

I think the difference is “having an opinion” vs. “just making shit up.”

Video reblogged from The Last Great Pool Party

thelastgreatpoolparty:

Rachel Maddow talking about debunked yet undebunkable assertions of entirely false, ludicrous things made by USian politicians and media folk.

There is some throbbing in the pants area.

Truthiness, yo.

Rachel Maddow is my favorite lesbian vampire.

But really. What she says at the end is one of my problems with the Rally to Restore Sanity. How can we have rational conversations with people who are being consciously irrational? I would agree with her that as long as they are purposefully creating their own world of false truths it’s going to be really difficult or impossible to have any real discussion, because we are basing our assumptions on different versions of reality!
