From BBQ Films’ Patrick Bateman’s 27th Birthday Party last weekend. More photos here.
“There is an idea of a Sophie Weiner, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there.”

Sorry for all the band stuff today but I am v psyched about all of it!! Dance is one of the art forms I think needs to be made more accessible so I’m super excited about this show and working with this collective.

IT’S OUR NEW SONG: STARSTUFF
Our recording process is usually tumultuous, lengthy and discordant at best. We conceptualize together and then, as a duo, take to our separate computers to put together music and vocals. To shake this off, we thought an interesting exercise would be to force ourselves to be in one room and record one song in one day. It was terrifying, really, being around each other and allowing ourselves into the other’s process, but also enlightening, fun, and we had banh mi so hells yes. Our concept was Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos”, the fact that the speed of light in space is such that stars we see with our eyes on earth are dead, pop music, and cats. Not witch house aerobics. Also banh mi. Christ that banh mi was good.
We have a new song and it samples Carl Sagan.
